Netflix Cancels Daredevil After Three Seasons

The Avengers movies timeline continues with Daredevil.

Netflix Cancels Daredevil After Three Seasons

Earlier this fall, Netflix canceled both Iron Fist and Luke Cage, which called the future of Marvel’s Netflix series into question. Now, Deadline is reporting that Netflix has canceled Daredevil as well. Marvel confirmed the news with an official statement released to Deadline.

“Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix. We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note. We’re thankful to showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years. While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel.”

Why has Netflix canceled over half of its Marvel shows? Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+, may have played a role in the increasing tensions between Disney/Marvel and Netflix. Deadline suggests that there was also a push from Netflix to reduce the episode count from 13 episodes to 10. Marvel reportedly resisted that. The report also cites creative issues as a possible reason that three Marvel shows are now defunct.

Netflix probably won’t cancel Jessica Jones or The Punisher before their new seasons in 2019. But after that, their future on Netflix isn’t very bright. Given Disney+’s family friendly focus, it’s hard to picture these R-rated Marvel characters making the leap to that streaming service. Marvel’s official statement even says that “the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come.” However, the good news is that “the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel.” Perhaps Daredevil could get a big screen debut in the MCU.

Your Finest Ham

The Kominsky Method Season 1 Episode 4

After class, Lisa confronted Sandy about the incident where he urinated on her bushes. She made certain that Sandy was receiving treatment for his apparent prostate issues. Sandy asked Lisa out for lunch, but Lisa had already had plans with someone else. Norman returned home and hung up Ilene’s dress, Phoebe tried to convince Norman to do something with Ilene’s expensive wardrobe. Mindy decided to confide in Lane about Sandy’s prostate trouble. At the grocery store, Sandy called the urologist and asked about his test results, but they hadn’t come in yet. Norman observed how similar Sandy’s situation was to Schrödinger’s cat. Norman asked the butcher for his finest ham.

Pool Relaxation

The Kominsky Method Season 1 Episode 4

During the car ride back to Norman’s house, the pair discussed how similar their health situations were to the theory of entropic decay. Norman also talked about how Kegel exercises could help tighten up their prostates. The pair attempted it, but it didn’t seem to help them in any noticeable way. Back at Norman’s house, the pair discussed happy memories of their marriages until they noticed Phoebe floating facedown in the pool. Phoebe was attempting to relax and was not dead as they had feared. That night, at class, Lane asked about Sandy’s condition and offered some of his alternative medicinal methods. Sandy called Lisa and asked if she would like to go out for dinner that night, but Lisa refused his offer once again.

Odd Conversation

The Kominsky Method Season 1 Episode 4

Later that night, Sandy asked Norman if he wanted to join him for a night out. Sadly, it was too late in the evening for Norman as he was getting ready to go to bed. Sandy went to the local bar and was ignored by the both the bartender and the other patrons. He managed to find an older man who offered him some advice on how to pick up the women at the bar. Sandy went to the restroom and made note of how powerful the other men’s urine streams were and decided to compliment them on their healthy prostates.

Sandy left the bar as he realized he didn’t belong there. Back at Norman’s, Norman noticed that Phoebe had stolen one of her mother’s purses and Norman accused her of stealing her mother’s items in order to sell them for drugs. Norman kicked Phoebe out of the house and ordered her to never come back. Sandy went home and tried to find some pornography that he was interested in, Norman quickly called and they discussed the situation with Phoebe.

Psychiatry Is Important

South Park Season 22 Episode 8

Cartman was at the psychiatrist’s office, where he was trying to rationalize ManBearPig;s existence and that Black Panther was not as good of a film as everyone says it was. He also couldn’t deal with people wanting him to get off of his phone. The psychiatrist diagnosed Cartman with anxiety and remarked how common anxiety was among the youth. PC Principal checked on Vice Principal Strong Woman. He urged her to place their children in daycare, but she refused. Later that day, Cartman paraded through town and demanded that everyone leave him alone in order to assuage his anxiety. Cartman saw an ad for a new product, Buddha Box. The Buddha Box projected your phone screen inches from your face and was outfitted with noise cancelling headphones. Cartman quickly ordered a Buddha Box and wore it to school the next day.

Buddha Box-ing

South Park Season 22 Episode 8

Throughout the school day, Cartman attempted to wear his Buddha Box, but was reprimanded by his teacher. He was sent to PC Principal’s office and quickly managed to convince PC Principal of the joys of Buddha Box. PC Principal quickly ordered a Buddha Box for both himself and Strong Woman. At their house, the couple became attached to using their Buddha Boxes often and started to ignore their children.

The PC children quickly escaped from their home and began to ravage the town with their PC insight. They first interrupted people at the local bar and managed to get some troublesome drinks removed from the menu. PC Principal and Strong Woman noticed that their children had run away and went out to locate them. The psychiatrist held a seminar at the Community Center to help people deal with their anxiety ridden loved ones. Strong Woman and PC Principal went to the police station for help finding their children.

Changes To Enact

South Park Season 22 Episode 8

The children went to the water park and Kyle was continually angry with Cartman for his use of the Buddha Box. Kyle told Cartman that every normal person dealt with some bit of anxiety and Cartman realized he had to go do something to let everyone know how to deal with anxiety. Cartman dressed up as a Buddhist monk and went to the City Council and attempted to convince the Mayor to raise government funds to buy everybody a Buddha Box. The PC pair found their children at the local radio station, before they decided to hold a PTA meeting. At the PTA meeting, PC Principal and Strong Woman announced their new plan to ban phone and Buddha Box usage at school.

Luther Season 5 Trailer Promises To Play Dirty

Luther season 5 trailer

Luther season 5 trailer promises to play dirty

The first trailer for Luther season five is here, and it finds Detective John Luther (Idris Elba) once again trying to solve a series of grisly murders that appear random at first, only to realize there’s a deadly pattern emerging. As Luther gets closer to the truth, his unconventional methods run the risk of alienating everyone who’s on his side. Meanwhile, his past will come back to haunt him, as his longtime nemesis Alice (Ruth Wilson) makes a very brief appearance near the end. You can check out the trailer in the post below!

Of the return, Elba said: “Neil, the BBC and I have been talking about a further season and I am thrilled that we have been able to bring it all together. I look forward to putting the coat back on.”

RELATED: First Footage for Luther Series 5 Reveals Idris Elba Getting Tortured

The latest four-part limited-series will be written by creator Neil Cross (Hard Sun). He further elaborated on the process of the series returning, saying:

“Now what? It’s a question Idris and I get asked a lot. What happened to John Luther after we last saw him striding unbowed through the streets of his city, his blood red London? It can’t be over, can it? There’s so much we don’t know. So much unfinished business. The thing is, we’ve been asking ourselves the same question. Because we love John and wonder what he’s up to. And as for me, I’m scared of the monsters. The face at the window. The hand under the bed. The shadow at the end of the street. Who’s going to stop them, if not John Luther? In the end, we picked up the phone to some old friends and asked if they’d like to find out what happens next. It turns out, they would. So that’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to find out what happens next. Now what? Luther’s coming back. That’s what.”

First premiering in 2010, Luther stars Elba as the titular obsessive detective and has seen him gain a Golden Globe award, a Screen Actors Guild award, an NAACP Image Award, a Critics’ Choice Award, and four Emmy nominations.

Luther season five will air on the BBC sometime in 2019.

DC & Warner Bros developing Blue Beetle movie

Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Scarface, Miss Bala) will be writing DC and Warner Bros.’ first Latino superhero movie, Blue Beetle, TheWrap has confirmed. The story about comic character Jaime Reyes is currently in development.

In the comics created by Keith Giffen, John Rogers, and Cully Hammer, Mexican-American teenager Jaime Reyes is the third character to assume the mantle of the Blue Beetle after Dan Garret and Ted Kord. The character first appeared in 2006’s Infinite Crisis #5, followed by his own monthly series that debuted in May of 2006 with Blue Beetle #1.

Jaime Reyes discovered the Blue Beetle scarab on the way home from school with two of his best friends Paco and Brenda, half-buried in a disused lot. Reyes took the scarab home, curious as to what it might be. That night, the scarab came alive, and grafted itself to the base of Jaime’s spine, and provided him with a suit of extraterrestrial armor which can be modified to enhance his speed and strength, as well as to create weapons, wings and shields.

Zev Foreman will serve as executive producer on the project for Warner Bros. This will mark the first time a Latino lead will be featured in a stand-alone superhero title for DC.

Daniel Bruhl and Charles Dance Join Kingsman Prequel

Daniel Bruhl and Charles Dance join Kingsman prequel

A few weeks after the revelation that the next entry in the hit spy franchise will be a prequel to the story thus far, Collider reports that The Alienist star Daniel Brühl and Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance have signed on to star in the upcoming Kingsman prequel. The Amazing Spider-Man‘s Rhys Ifans is also in talks to join.

RELATED: Taron Egerton Won’t Appear in Next Kingsman Movie

Series writer/director Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First Class) announced back in June that the third entry in the franchise, entitled Kingsman: The Great Game, would take place in the early 1900s and would follow the roots of the spy agency that Taron Egerton’s Eggsy would eventually become one of the remaining agents for and showing us the man who would be Kingsman. Vaughn also announced that unlike the previous two films, this one will be more of a period drama rather than a spy thriller.

The film has already started attracting an all-star cast, with Trust‘s Harris Dickinson set for the lead role of Conrad, a cocky young hero eager to serve his country and continue his fight from World War I, and The Grand Budapest Hotel‘s Ralph Fiennes set to co-star with him, with Brühl and Dance now joining the cast and Ifans and The Imitation Game‘s Matthew Goode in talks to join the cast. Brühl and Dance’s roles are currently being kept under wraps, while Ifans is in talks to play a dangerous and manipulative Russian mystic.

The prequel to the hit action franchise comes as Vaughn continues to expand the universe, based on the graphic novel series by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, past the two movies released thus far, including an eight-episode series, a true sequel to the last entry The Golden Circle that will wrap up the Harry Hart (Colin Firth)-Eggsy relationship and a spin-off focusing on the agency introduced in the last film, Statesman, with Channing Tatum (Logan Lucky), Halle Berry (John Wick 3: Parabellum) and Jeff Bridges (Bad Times at the El Royale) all set to reprise their roles from the previous film.

Production on Kingsman: The Great Game is set to begin in January 2019 and is currently slated for a November 8, 2019 release.
